What was the best automotive movie or tv show that wasn't advertised as such?
I'm actually going to throw a curveball... I've been sick for the last couple of days and I'm going through my movie/tv show collection for my answer. Based on that I might have to say my answer for the TV show category would actually be Breaking Bad. I don't think Dodge Challengers are all that great... I just think the show did an awesome job of linking characters personalities to their cars. You learned about them based on their car. As for movies, I'm having a tough time with that. I will post in the comments when I come up with something.

In recent years? Archer. Archer . Oh my god, Archer.
And in terms of its contribution to my personal love of cars? Transformers, because in the '80's when I was a kid it snuck cars into my growing boy-love of all things ACTION!

That was a sweet moment. Made me think of me in my dad: Me in a hopped up Mustang GT and him in a GTO. Dead even race from 55-145 (allegedly).

A great thing about the cool cars in Archer is they can smash 'em up and I don't care.
Monday can't come fast enough.
